Organizers´ Messag
It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to
the 3rd East-West Conference on Child Sexual Abuse, Sexual Violence
and Post-traumatic Stress disorder organized by several organizations
with the leading role of the Czech Sexological Society, Czech
Psychiatric Society and Society for Child and Adolescent
Health.
First we met in Prague in 1996 and found such a convention so beneficiary,
that we decided to start good tradition and continue in such highly
professional meetings of specialists. The 1999 meeting had a subtitle
"Step into 2000". Our first triennial meeting in the new millennium
comes together with meeting of IATSO and logically continues its
meeting in Vienna. 100 years ago we (Czechs and Austrians) were
joined in one state, now we approach such a status again in the
framework of European Union.
The goal of this conference is a mutual and interdisciplinary
exchange of ideas and information among colleagues from western
and eastern countries. As the Vienna Conference should be merely
focused on the treatment of sex offenders, the one in Prague will
this time discuss mainly the aspects of care for victims, post-traumatic
stress disorder and social aspects of the problem.
The official language is English. Aside from the
open call for papers, we will invite excellent scientists from around
the world. Key papers from Vienna might be accepted for presentation
in Prague as well.
I would like to invite you cordially to Prague,
the Great City in the heart of Europe. All the members of the Organizing
Committee, as well as the agencies involved, will do the best to
make your stay fruitful and pleasant.
| Looking forward to meet you in Prague |

Prague:
Prague,
the capital of the Czech Republic is known as the Hearth of Europe
and attracts millions of visitors every year. This city is dominated
by the ancient monument, Prague Castle with Gothic St. Vitas Cathedral
and 1000 years old Romanesque Basilica of St George. The famous
Charles Bridge links the picturesque Lesser Town with scenic Old
Town, which is an unique open-air gallery of baroque sculptures.
Old Town attracts tourists by its famous astronomical clock in the
Town Hall and the Jewish cemetery dating from the early 15th century.
Prague is full of Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance monuments,
but above all it is one of most famous towns if you look for European
High Baroque. The distance from Vienna is 280 km.
